What is chess.com's obsession with Twitch?

I remember when I joined we could watch the biggest chess events on chess.com. The biggest chess events were covered LIVE with excellent commentary and it was great for newcomers to watch and learn and follow.

However its been a while since all that has completely stopped. Big event after big event goes by and it gets no space on chess.com. Take for instance the current GCT event in Croatia which is the biggest event in chess right now and not a drop of LIVE coverage of that is available on chess.com.

Instead we get to watch low elo patzters like me, stream on twitch. I don't understand this obsession with twitch. Who would you rather watch some patzer's stream or the biggest even in chess.

Even the few streams that are watchable, don't even focus on chess.com chat. Instead its all about the twitch chat. If you try and type into the chess.com chat, its like shouting into a great void. No one reads what you are saying.

What is chess.com's obsession with twitch, to the point that they prefer giving a platform to patzer streams over the biggest events in chess.

Streaming patezers would be a lot cheaper, for one thing.
