Chess is my passion.
WHAT IS CHESS TO YOU?
Chess is certainly one of the most mentally stimulating games ever. I enjoy finding patterns, executing tactics, and finding subtle ways of defeating opponents. Overall, Chess is fun :)
Chess for me is a mistress. She displays her wares and you easily get caught and lose sight of time. You can engage her long and hard as in standard, or fast like a whip or bullet, just the same the satisfaction you get from a win is the same. She is so complex it's just so hard to fully understand her nuances. Her temperament can be quite or aggressive but you have to be careful in your approach as their lay traps that are skillfully concealed. Just when you thought you've figured her out she will introduce a novelty and all your preparations goes awry! Oh to indulge her! as years and years pass by yet her beauty still remains.
"Ahh at last you're old and dying yet never coming close to conquering her, so you introduce her to your son hoping to continue where you left of and maybe just maybe He could finally master her...."
I don't think that sort of thing really happens in the western world...
Something to study, as I would like to be back in school, but that isn't possible. I can study as much or little as I like, and I can take weeks off from study if I wish. It gives me something to actually think about, really think about. Everything else in my life is kind of thoughtless, so.......automatic. Everyone needs something to stir their mind.
Fellow Chess Companions, let me put the simple question to you; What is chess to YOU? Not to your brother, sister or dog, but to you, the individual.
