Crazyhouse is basically like shogi in that if you take a piece, it changes to your color and you can put it on the board in place of a move
In crazy house chess, whenever you capture a piece. You can place the captured piece back on the board as your own.
What about Bughouse? Is that just another name for Crazyhouse, or is it even more buggy?

Bughouse was the original, Crazyhouse came later when computers made it easy to change the color of the pieces.
In Bughouse there are four players, two teams of two (one Black, one White player on each team.) When your partner captures a piece, they place it next to you and you may then put it on the board, anywhere you want, instead of making a normal move. Obviously you need a clock to play.
It's very common for one player to capture a lot of pieces in order to sacrifice them to his partner and then stall his clock because counter play would result in mate (or he needs one particular kind of piece to win, like a Knight.)
