Yes you should because a FIDE rating outranks an American one. Typically 100 or 150 stronger.
At first they welcome you to the fake elo rating rooms. Just not to be scared and not to run away. If you become a member they show you the true elo rating of members! A 2000 elo it is equal to 1500 elo in the reality room. I saw many members daimond 1200 elo but they were very strong and I lost many games against!!
I call it fide as in Fido, the dog. We Brits don't call Paris Paree, so why call it Feeday?
