Hill was Hilarious to the VERY END, even stoned DEAD sitting alone across his typewriter.

No, that's what he did for the American programs he made and for independent TV here. The good stuff he did was all done for BBC and they wouldn't have access to it for such compilations.

Don't fed a tear for fad-eyed Fal.

super simple. Hill remains. those who don't like it.....know where to put itwink.png

I have Benny Hill DVD.

Someone said he died out a long time agowink.png

noodles2112

By the time he was popular in the USA he was becoming less popular here. However, the women chase and much of his stuff is completely misunderstood by dim-witted types. It was all about existential angst, self-deprecation, loneliness and insecurity. Pathos was the prevalent thing, apart from clever word-play.

I can see how those themes would resonate for you.

Surely, it takes a keen wit to understand the depth of Benny Hill's humor...

I'm not saying he was never funny, but to imply that his humor is beyond the ken of the average viewer is quite a stretch.

i would like to see that proof. there must be more than one story about benny hill? seen a few documentaries etc. i suppose one could compare benny hill with van gogh.

some people despise van

Dio - i'd like to correspond with you in a more "adult manner".

so i shall compromise.

any thoughts?

How many comedians piggyback off Benny?

Redd Foxxx, you get Pryor and Eddie Murphy etc. etc.

Katt Williams made a big splash until he criticized big brother.

If Franks Brady's information is correct from The Mind of Bobby Fischer.

What is this? An article? I mentioned both of Brady's books on Fischer. I've read them. There is nothing verifiable in them, and loads of problems with the claim.
If Brady wrote something more specific, please offer a trackable citation.

I have no issue if Bobby Fischer took an IQ test or not. But this is what has been reported by someone claiming to know, and seen the record.

The fact is Bobby Fischer was considered a Genius regardless of a verified IQ test. Like others in history that did not take a verified IQ test.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) ...
Michelangelo (1475-1564) ...
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) ...
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) ...
Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) ...
Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) ...
Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) ...
Nikola Tesla (1856-1943)

Definitely not Nietzsche, Edison and van Gogh. The others may lay some claim to genius. All Edison did was buy up patents. Not sure if he invented a thing. What did he invent, of importance?? Nietzsche was a failed philosopher and van Gogh was an artist whose work caught on because it was different.

You could credit Edison with developing the industrial research laboratory. According to Arnold Pacey, Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand Year History (1991), the research laboratory was the most important innovation in the latter half of the nineteenth century.

Tesla was despised by Edison and his ilk.

make no mistake. Tesla's work confiscated and laboratory annihilated.

oh don't fret.........it was all purely coincidentalwink.png

Dio - I typically do not discuss those topics unless someone brings them up first. But I shall respect your wishes. If you look at the majority of my posts you'll see they have remained conducive to the threads topic.

IQ is irrelevant and not a good way to measure intelligence.

noodles2112

There are many tests to determine many things. introvert/extrovert personality traits, scholastics abilities etc.

How beneficial to humanity... I do not know.
