What is the best piece set and board theme on chess.com?
It's all based on preference.

Personally, I use the glass pieces with the brown squares. Others (most) stay with the original neo pieces and green squares.
example. Hikaru. He uses the glass pieces and the icy sea squares. One of my non-virtual friends uses the glass pieces and the sky blue squares.
Others use the alpha and green squares. Others use the full lolz or 8-bit set probably just for fun, or they just like it. Some even use the checkers board with the condal pieces although this is chess. And some use the classic or bases pieces with the blue squares.

There are so many combinations and varieties of them. It's all based on preference and how you like it.

you can do any ombre background and then do transparent board and whatever peices and it will make the board ombre too, really cool design.

I think cases pieces and checkers board is best for me, but it is still all a personal choice and it is all up to you :-)

Something easy on the eyes, and easy to read.

The physical board and pieces should NOT distract your attention from the game.

Keep them simple and modest.

I don't think this piece type is selectable.
