You can get a cheaper set of 50€, a plastic set. You really have a range of nice plastic sets that are very affordable.
I honestly like mine it’s a cardinal classics chessboard and had chess, checkers, and backgammon

Silicone is the best. (It worked for your mamma. Sorry, I had to get a "your mamma" joke in it).
The pieces and the board would be nearly indestructible and easy to clean.
