Man, I've been searching for an answer everywhere as well! Its so confusing and frustrating. Also, with the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour also going on, the Chessable Masters specifically... Magnus wasn't in it since he was still in the World Cup. So that means he won't be able to gain any more points from his standings (not that he really cares, since he is still 1st anyways), but they have too many tournaments going all at once.

It got me really confused.
Being the world champions means winning World Championship.
So what is FIDE World Cup for? If Magnus loses it but wins Championship, he plays in Candidates to challenge himself?
Why do they make two such tournaments? Isn't Norway Chess, Tata Steel and many more, not enough for FIDE and they need two?
