I know I have to write to chess com about it, but it will be easier for me and others to know it beforehand, so that one can decide whether to write or not. Please give a detailed criteria if possible for e.g. rating, title requirement, number of followers on popular streaming channels, net worth of the person, etc.

Speed run accounts are not allowed!

If you've watched the popular chess streamers for any amount of time, I'm sure you've seen at least one of them doing a 'speed run' using a new account to climb the ratings as quickly as possible.

This kind of thing is normally not allowed and is a form of cheating we call 'rating manipulation' or 'sandbagging.' Doing this yourself is a quick way to get your account closed!

However, streamers partnered with Chess.com have a special exception to this rule for entertainment purposes. The speed run accounts are closely monitored by the Fair Play team, and all points lost to the accounts are returned to the opponents.

The accounts are also often clearly labeled for anyone playing against them to see, for example here is the profile of one of Hikaru Nakamura's speed run accounts:

This kind of thing is not allowed otherwise, and only happens with special approval from Chess.com staff. Please do not make your own 'speed run' account or you will end up with it, and your normal account both closed for cheating!

When did this happen? Recently GM Hikaru played using an account 'TheFiveTime' last time on 16th Feb 2024.

Some titled players may be allowed a speed run account. Regular members aren't going to be able to get one.

That's what i wanted to ask, what is the eligibilty. What title do i need (e.g is it necessary to be GM or any lower ones)? Do i need to be a streamer? What should be my net worth?

I'm not sure what the ultimate requirements are but it's not commonly granted as far as I'm aware.

Favoritism I see.

Approved Speedrun accounts require staff involvement in both permitting it and handling the post-speedrun process.

You’re 1200 bro. You won’t be speed running anything anytime soon. First qualification is to get 2500 plus. Lmao

You need to be at least a streamer or a person who makes content. Being titled also helps to get a speedrun account but its not required.
