What is the next best site after this one?

And do they have such a silly disconnect policy? Sick of losing because of abandonment when there is plenty of time on the clock and I was disconnected for 1 minute or less. I use wifi so this will remain an issue, but usually the disconnect clears up in a matter of seconds.

According to google it has the most registered players and the ratings are closest to FIDE ratings. However I'm going to give [another site -- VP] a try and see if their policies work better for me, and maybe I can pretend my 1400 or whatever I end up with is legit.

This site is the best

It has the best of the best out here ...strong servers and loads of women...that s all a young man can want..

I may play like a young man, but unfortunately I'm not. I seem to have no problems with connectivity on the other site although so far the play is atrocious. Of course I'm sure I could challenge a 2000 on there and get slaughtered for fun.

I think a deep player pool, good interface, players that take the game seriously and don't try to game the system. I hope to play OTB someday, so I'd like to know where my ranking stands too. Probably the best thing to do is play on multiple sites.

If you type in CHESS you get here ..It is always the number one site in every searchmachine ...they make lots of dollars here...millions but I don t care ...It is a great site all the way...

I think it is to combat people that just stop playing or turn off their computer when they start losing. But I don't get why people complained about it, you get the ratings points anyway. And most games aren't that long anyway. There's some kind of algorithym sp? that decides you have been disconnected for too long or haven't moved in too long and it automatically ends the game saying you abandoned it. If you have an internet line it is probably no problem, but on wifi which can briefly cut out it can be an issue.

I dont know how it works. But I do know one thing for sure. Here I have had many, many games that got disconnected. Yet on the other site mentioned it hasn't happened once. At least not yet, and it's been over a year. So to me it seems like it might be something specific to each site.

Does chess.com have multiple servers for live chess?

Can players be matched cross server?

Is there a common server with problems?

I have absolutely no idea. All I know is that the problems I had here do not exist on the other site. At least not yet. It's surprising we can still say the words "other" and "another" even though everyone knows exactly what that means.

I only disconnect rarely when my end fails, although the juddery lag in the only Crazyhouse bullet tournament I played was ridiculous.

Your traffic to different sites do not travel the same route; only a small part of the path is shared. If there is a problem on part of one path, but not the other, then you can get disconnects.

Add to that, here there is ad related code, that can impact things if you have a basic membership, regardless if you are viewing any.

OK. Like I said I have no idea of the how or why. I just know the results.
