Ah, the quarantine section. Had I known, I wouldn't have bothered.
What is the Psychology of a Cheater?
They generally believe they are better players than their rating shows (for whatever reason, usually some self-made excuse like "I wasn't concentrating" or "I don't take these games as seriously as I should.") so they feel like they are just getting back to where they belong.
It's all about confirmation bias in human nature. We tend to believe positive information about ourselves ("Hooray, I won, I'm brilliant!") and disregard negative information ("I lost, but he didn't really beat me, I just made a silly mistake that I wouldnt' normally make.") So we all tend to think more highly of ourselves than we should. Some people take that too far.

where would you find the wall of shame at? I would like to take a look at it?
go to where it says search the forums and keyword "chess.com list of caught cheaters"

I tried your suggestion but didn't see the list. How about this: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/chesscom---list-of-caught-cheaters

All your questions shall be answered : Dr. Unclear.

Cheating in chess is an issue that Chess.com takes seriously. That said, it has minimal impact on the site and shouldn't be a concern for 99.9% of players. Unfortunately, there is much more paranoia about the topic than it actually deserves. Also, having several constant and redundant threads on the topic that circulate with the same questions and comments over and over again isn't helpful, and instead causes people to worry more than they need to. We have posted FAQs below that should address all questions on the topic. We have posted the Chess.com FAQs and policies here:

Thanks for helping keep Chess.com safe and friendly!
I just saw the wall of shame list of banned cheaters from chess.com and my jaw hit the floor! Way more than I thought. I would love to see a psychological profile of these people to see what makes them tick. Do they do it because they are super sensitive and can't bear the thought of losing? Or do they have a low self image and it gives them a new found sense of power? If they entered the Tour de France would we see them riding a moped? If you're contemplating cheating or you are a cheater hiding under a different name I'd like to hear from you.
