In my games vs opponents of reasonable strength Black's move 27 here: http://blog.chess.com/fissionfowl/1st-game-of-the-season2
I'd never seen someone of that grade make a mistake like that before.

The worst move I can think of, is playing Qh9, once you step out of bounds, you cannot come back into the field of play...... Just kidding sorry
I made my own worst move...several. But the one I can remember is having my opponents queen trapped. After several moves, I had her cornered. No matter what move he made, she was a gonner. All I had to do was move my queen to a safe spot...any safe spot. Well, what did I do....I set her right next to his castle for the taking, exchanging what was his queen solid, to a simpol trade for queens (mine & then his). To make it worse, the sequence in which I set this up, set me up for a piece by piece massacre in which I was soon put down in good order.
You have to understand the nature of three days per move. Guy took my queen with his queen, thereby putting me in check. All my king had to do was take back. But I had forgotten the moves that came before this one, and my contingency plan in case the guy wanted to trade queens, and I was distracted by some house guests, and, well, I just forgot that my king could take back. My king moved away, and a split second later I realized what I had done. Good lord. Just shoot me now.
Throughout chess history, many spectacular blunders have occurred in games great and small.
What is the worst move (or worst short series of moves) you have seen in your chess-playing history?
Mine is by an opponent stronger than me. He should have played (and did not) played 57...Rg6# after I played 57.c6 (I was getting desperate). Instead he played 57...Rde7?? The errors continued with 58. Qd1+ Kc8? 59. Qg4+ Kb8?? 60. Qb4+ forcing mate via Qb7, whereupon he resigned despite being up two rooks and a bishop for a queen and two pawns. Amazingly,he also missed ...Rg6# when I played c5.
