What is this give a trophy business?

I don't understand it either.
At the bottom of a member's profile page you can select to "give a trophy". That takes you to a page where you can send that user a graphic trophy. Also, after a game you can award a trophy to the person you just finished playing.
I think it is a good opportunity to say thank you to the player win or lose for the time spent and the enjoyable game.
Yeah pretty cool wish there was more variety or you could design your own though.
