As we begin, if you totally crushed a person 400 rating points above you who is appropriately suited at their rating bow many rating points would you go up?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH WRONG WITH THE RATING CHANGE IN LIVE CHESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
k-factor, the risk and reward is off
400 points is scoring 90% or something like that, if you lose 1 point per game obviously his loss has to be capped, can't be anywhere near 100
In 'live chess' it's based on a 16 point rating system (unless you're a provisional and then it adjusts much larger until you have an established rating). If there's a 400 point differential, maximum for the lower rated to win is 16, higher can't win any (maybe 1 point max) as they are 'supposed to win' in theory. The online (turn-based) games seem to be on a larger scale...closer to a 32 point system with the same criteria as stated above.
