I resolve to have an 1800+ standard rating by the end of 2016. I just beat the highest rated player that I've played since joining so I'm feeling cocky 😁
What is you chess resolution for the new year (2016)?

I firmly resolve to spend at least 30 minutes each month dating with my girlfriend, so sadly that means less time for chess and more time to fantasize about having a girlfriend. I'll sort it all out in 2017 anyway.

In the realm of making "new year's resolutions", I thought it might be fun to make a resolution for chess for 2016.
So here is mine:
For 2016, I firmly resolve to spend at least 30 minutes each day solving tactical puzzles.
What about you? What is your chess resolution for the new year?
Best wishes for the New Year everyone!

Best bathroom reader ever written.
My very first chess book was by Fred Reinfeld!
I was amazed that there were books about chess strategy, etc., and
my local library had a copy of, The Complete Chessplayer, which was a real page-turner for me at the time.

I resolve that when I do spend time on chess, I will do the activities that make me more fluent in the game. I want to be able to pick up a chess book and play through the game and variations as if I had a board in front of me.
that means I will get up at 5am instead of studying at 7 pm and I will sit on my hands until I see everything.
I will memorize a handful of great games - knowing not only the moves but the moves that weren't chosen so if I were called upon to teach a 1200 or a 2400 I could show them the game.
On the rare occasion I play otb, I will fear no one and only accept trivial draws.

Bring my USCF up to 1800. Win a scholastic event in my home state of hawaii. Read at least one solid chess book a month, and beat a class A player in match play

I plan to make Pawn Pusher 5 and 6 in 2016.

Marco, I reviewed the "trailers" to your upcoming films and I agree, you are absolutely brilliant!! :) I especially liked the photo of Carlsen et al at the London Classic 2015 and the accolade that they gave you. :)

Best wishes for you too Doc! I have already resolved to reach a 1250 rating in 2016. Oh I know that sounds low for the bunch of you but for me to rate 1250 is quite the lofty goal. I think I have a good shot if I keep working as hard as I did this year. I improve very slowly but steady. Happy New Year to everyone here on Chess.com!
Thanks for writing and the well-wishes,RomancitoG. There is something about working hard... it cannot fail to improve your game. All the best on your noble quest!
