What is your favorite CHESS movie?

The Luzhin Defence was terrible ... ( even worse than the book )

...an improbable courtship.... borderline Autistic Spectrum Guy and rebellious daughter.

Not comedy-of-the-year material....unless one finds this kind of absurd ,amusing. ( which it is , in not short supply , in places )

Funny Pathos , or something.

Tragi-comic with a surreal twist.

The Great Chess Movie

Dangerous Moves (La Diagonale du fou) (1984). It's a dramatic depiction of the Karpov-Korchnoi match, and it won the Oscar for best foreign film!

Dangerous Moves doesn't depict the 1978 match, but a lot of the story elements were taken from it.

@VSpelenderwijs - ah yeah. went to the pictures to watch this. Took a couple of non-chess playing friends, they liked it. Interesting guy, good story.

Fresh (1994) was pretty good. Though it had chess in it it wasn't the main theme of the movie. it had street chess on the CLO in it and a few scenes about correspondence chess in it. Samuel L. Jackson was supporting actor.

The Dark Horse is definitely a very good chess movie and a good movie in general.
