no i dont think its Fischer, its sounds more like Tarrasch or someone like that... Fischer didnt play too many patzers in his life to actually know.

I've read it this way:

Chess is like life with 3 parts: an opening where you hope to become the better game; a middle game where you think you have the better game and an ending where you know you have a lost game!

I guess it was Tarrasch, Fischer (sometimes or was it Larry Evans?) liked to quote Tarrasch (German: "Sieht der Patzer ein Schach, gibt er es!")!
