1...d5. It's the most drawish (ergo the safest) and forces the game into more predictable lines immediately (unlike 1...Nf6).

Agreed. If the OP is merely trying to gather statistics, he can just go to 365chess or elsewhere for those, and with much higher accuracy and completeness. However, such databases don't give *reasons* for those moves. Instead of giving statistics on moves here, which is very dry, how about gathering statistics on the *reasons* people gave for favoring that move? And how about more people here giving reasons instead of just moves? Then it becomes a more interesting question.
