My playing style is between Basman and Bloodgood, but not with the killer instinct that Bloodgood had. More of a tame Grob player, who likes to sacrifice the other player's pieces.
What is your playing style?
I love closed, positional games with fixed pawn structures and complicated battles about a few key files or squares, but I hate "balanced" positions, because they're either drawn or decided in the endgame. I dislike the endgame, because it's all cold calculation and no strategy. Strategic, long-term plans are what makes chess so interesting and it's something humans are better at than computers, that's why I love positional games. For blitz games, I prefer gambits with many tactical ideas and sacrifices, because it's more thrilling.
well position gives tactical opportunity. but i would consider myself more of a tactical player. im usually an attacker seeing as how i always end up hanging myself up positionally when i play defensive.
but of course im always looking for the best and most forcing move regardless!
No teeth, no hair.... grim!
No teeth, no hair.... grim!
i have armpit hair and......nevermind
Closed, positional games as Black. Open, tactical games as White. Perhaps that's why I'm doing much better as Black!
I generally like aggressive, pawn storming games. To me those are most exciting, but also I can play positional and defensive when I have to, but where's the fun in that :P.
run forest run!
not the type of playing style one would hope for
i like to sacrifice and make attacks, although it rarely works for me. i love to play the king's gambit, but since nobody ever responds e4 with e5 anymore, i sometimes play 1. f4 because it always gives 'em a surprise and can easily transpose to kings gambit if they play e5 in hopes of Qh4+. :)
As White:
First move 1. e4 usually . . . Against e5 i play kings gambit, against c5 i play morra gambit :) ... love gambits
As Black
Against d4, i play f5 (dutch) or Kings indian and against e4 i play a mixture, sometimes Alekhines, sometimes sicilian, sometimes caro-kann
i would label my style as "accident prone with a tendacy to humiliate myself".
