I think she's relaxing as well, for the record.
What it's really like being a female chess player.

A lot of players look bored, like Magnus. But it's more that they are focusing, reflecting, and concentrating. Which comes handy in chess.
magnus is not a female (i think)

no its not Your responsibility to have an expression that everyone likes.
heck.
its not even your responsibility to Look as good as everybody would like, though a little effort is probably appreciated.
I'm pointing out to THOSE that are dense, that since she clearly hasn't started the game; there must be some point to here sitting at a chess board. a simple guess is that she is waiting for her opponent, and a roving photographer is taking pictures.
both are very common just before the start of a tournament.
"they seem bored to play chess". a silly comment! oc, since shes not PLAYING chess. her expression at that moment has No relevance to whether she likes chess or what she looks like when she Does play chess. (duh!)
this is WGM Sopiko Guramishvili (per google reverse search)
so presumably she really , really like chess and she is very good at it,
the point here is elubas, is this is pretty bad bump.
trying to revive and already bloated and overly contentious reaction to a blog-- and with a sexist remark at that.
no need to philosophize on either being bored or looking bored.
whether you like her expression or not, WGM Guramisvili is one of the prettier chess players on the planet. IMHO.
i thought she looked bored. don't be rude if you did not like my opinion / interpretation of her facial expression.

"they" is quite alot more sweeping than "she" isn't it? especially when she isn't playing.
perhaps I am being rude- green
but you imply too much into the photo.
why bump the thread for that? and what has WGM guramishvili have to do with the OP anyways?
"They Seem Bored to play chess", seems pretty rude to me. and that's my opinion.

That's right, he's not. I didn't mean to imply that he was.

I think we disagree when it comes to the degree, then. I think the rudeness, while there, is somewhat slight, especially considering how frequently people on the internet will act as if they want to kill the person they're talking to because they hate them so much: this is nothing by comparison.
Let's put it this way: it would be better if the poster did not make the comment he/she did, but the post didn't make things much worse, either. I don't think it made any girls have huge insecurities about themselves, or anything like that. I would say that if you think so, you are having some paranoia. No attack intended on you, I get that you care about women, and that's good. Just my opinion.

She's just relaxing. Our mind is all we've got. Not that it won't lead us astray sometimes, but we still have to analyze things out within ourselves.
I see what you did there :)

"its not even your responsibility to Look as good as everybody would like, though a little effort is probably appreciated."
World famous fashionista, the the great_patzer, might have a look at his own posted photo before putting his worst foot forward.
Is that really the best you can do mate? I may be just a humble Rosella, but I'd have a shave if I were you and maybe do something about that, um, paunch... All jesting aside, however, has the last 50 years somehow passed you by? And before the 'political correctness' comeback gets flung in my colourful feathered face. simple 'good manners' might even be considered (if you'd prefer to look at things that way). "Manners maketh the man" after all and my old dad would've slapped me over the head if I'd made such a comment. He'd probably also tell me "not to get worked up. son, over what some unknown American thinks"... but mate, wake up and smell the roses! And before you start, I don't reckon that I'm 'trolling' here (poor slandered, misrepresented, beings that they be), I'm just bloody gob-smacked that people still don't get it...

@power_2_the_lookjudgers
why would you judge someone based on his looks? that is just stupid bullshit and very childish. there are thousands of people that look better than you, would you like it if they came and told you whats wrong with your looks? just grow up and consider whats really important in life. and maybe eat a snickers thanks.

I'm pleased you got the point, matey ( And Snickers are a blight upon the planet)

you know what i am talking about power_2_the_lookjudgers. you are insecure personality who needs to judge other people based on their looks for example as you did with the superpatzer. just eat a snickers, i am sure timbeau would agree.

my name is Brah Brahsen, not moron. I could just report you for insults but i wont as you basically just have insecurity problems in your mind so i will forgive you for you superficial behaviour. but pls dont judge people again it ruins this world.

you wrote a huge text about greatpatzer and looks and that he should shave blablabla... and you said moron again, now youre reported. see you on your next account hahahah

i think most of them are hired models but they don't know how to play chess
it is encourage higher tournament turnout.
i think you could ask a female what it would be like to be in a room surrounded by 100 male virgins who happen to play chess and you could get a better understand of what the experience is like

so, may I ask, in "open discussion"- is it perfectly acceptable to call someone ugly?
if so - I'm not sure I'm interested.

ok. agree personal attack DO happen. and I'm fine with that. but I don't think its acceptable and I don't think it helps a person convince others that he's right.
I have the feeling that some people might have things to say to me, if they felt like they could be more offensive than they are.
so what would it prove. and why would going to a unmoderated discussion be interesting?
"trying to revive and already bloated and overly contentious reaction to a blog"
I'd say the blog itself was at least a little cheeky, though that's just my suspicion. There are many other ways she could have told her story.
