  1. II'll be very interested to hear of any other players who use nootropics for better chess.

At the present moment I am using Neuro Max-II, Optimind along with my regular medication. My medication just got changed and the new one is helping me to play more positionally.

I would be very interested to hear of others' views. Btw, modafinil doesn't work for very long. You get tolerant very fast. Very very fast in fact.

One benefit of nootropics, at least in some countries, is it really limits career options allowing the unemployed to play more chess.

Next time you renew your pilot's license or apply to a medical board in the United States list what you are taking and let me know the reaction you get.

I use neurons.  They're old-fashioned, but still perfectly acceptable.

Could get a bit messy trying to bottle that...

us air force is infamous for this. recently they banned anyone who takes champix to join them. it is a smoking cessation aid. the air force says it can cause psychosis.

I need better tactics, better king safety, and better back-rank mate vision. Is there a tactical, king safety, back-rank mate nootropic available?

I just checked the prices of the two items the OP mentioned. Setting aside how effective they may or may not be, the manufacturers are making some decent profit on this stuff.

Cabergoline will make you more tactical. Piracetam more positional and slow. Mirtazapine will make you use your bishops well. Modafinil will help in calculation.

the problem is that a lot of these pills work but the effect gets reversed soon. like recently i thought i had finally unlocked the chess secrets. i beat an FM and a WGM on ICC and my playing strength I would estimate at around 2150 chess.com. Then one day it all evaporated.
