Im 200 elo and I always play the grobs opening when playing as white, but is there any better openings I should do as white?

For a 200 elo, its better to try the fried liver attack trap, you are almost undefeated using that

Thank you I appreciate it

If you have an aggressive play style, you can try followed by 1...e5 and then for sharp games. But if you prefer a calmer approach, I recommend playing , and then developing your bishop with Bf4 — that’s the London System.

At the 200 level, openings should be the least of your concerns.

Practice watching the whole board, not just the area where the most recent moves were made. Improve your situational awareness.

Learn the basic tactics, like pin, fork, skewer, overload, and so on. Learn to string these tactics together into a combination.

Example: The following position occurred in one of my over-the-board rated tournament games. White can string a few basic tactics (overload, decoying, deflection. guard destruction) together into a combination that ends with a brutal Knight fork.

Grandmasters spend a lot of time polishing up their openings. Many players - WAY too many players - think that if the Grandmasters do it, it must be the best idea for everybody.

Let's try a little Gedankenexperiment... a thought experiment:

Suppose I was just learning to drive. My driving instructor feels that I should try to drive slowly and carefully until I get the hang of it. But on television I saw the Formula 1 champion Hamilton zooming along at over 300 kilometers an hour, engine roaring and tires squealing.

So who knows better... the world Formula 1 racing champion, or some anonymous driving teacher who has probably never won a major race?

I'm gonna go out there and learn to drive... at 300 kilometers per hour!

The opening for your level should be the Italian game/guicco piano opening which also mixes with the fried liver which works 92% of the time in 100-800 elo chess and that opening is my main now.

You can just do the kid checkmate because the opponent in 200 elo are stupid

Anything is better than Grob. Try Italian or Evans gambit.

Play classical openings and mainlines, you learn the most from them
MaestroDelAjedrez2025

e4 and d4 are the best first moves for white

Try playing 1. e4. You will face various answers but you will learn fast. You will get this crucial practice.
