I'm 1250 rated on chess.com but I think I'm higher in the local chess leagues. I'm sure I can beat this computer 7, the game had a draw ending but I'm pretty tired, you can see at the end I did some sloppy moves. Could have won. But just out of curiosity, what level is comp 7?

Those computers aren't rated.

Once you traded rooks, you couldn't have won that game in a million years.

One guy who was rated 950 reported beating level 7

According to the mobile app the computer Level 7 is ranked 1600 (somewhat weak)

The real problem is that the strength reportedly varies directly with the computing power of the device of the player playing it.

So,  for example, it plays much more weakly on an iphone than on a decent PC with a reasonable amount of RAM.

That and the ability for humans to use "takebacks" (and fool themselves that their rating should be based on the game result including all the takebacks) are why it's better to resist the temptation to assign any rating at all-- other than to say that "7" is a little stronger than "6" and a little weaker than "8".

/  I read that in England, they have computers that go up to "11".

Well, I perform better OTB than online just because I am more used to that style and take it more seriously (I mostly use online chess to test out potentially risky ideas). I have both drawn and won against Computer Level 9 before, but I was not using a timer. I regularly beat Computer Level 5, which plays much like some of the players on chess.com around ~1000-1200 strength. I'd say that in some ways the lower level computers play worse than humans (when they make ridiculous moves that you can only make by moving randomly), and in some ways they play shockingly well (one time I lost to Computer Level 5 because somehow it came up with a clever sacrifice that resulted in a better position). As you can see, rating these lower level computers is tricky business.
