The site won't skip ID'ing players to verify their OTB credentials. If you are a male and in the US, you will need to have an established, not provisional, 2200 USCF rating (along with the NM title that provides) or a 2200 FIDE rating, which for most players, is a bit stronger than 2200 USCF.
What rating would qualify me for CM?

My friend Gelate has the highest rating of 1200, but his lessons are 1800+
What rating would? FIDE 2200? Skip the I.D chess.com at all that crap just to get a title, do the second option. If you have facebook/twitter they will give you that title after they contact you. I don't use those sites, I'm more of a Google Plus kind of person. Add that and I'll fund it.
