What's up with tactics trainer?

Not that I use it very often, but I just gained 130 points in less than 10 minutes with little effort. It is really easy to gain points now if you solve the puzzles quickly

They have been making adjustments after a set of changes announced in late April. https://www.chess.com/blog/News/chess-com-dev-update-april-28-2017

People had suddenly been losing a lot of points. There was a lot of whining.

They may have overcorrected.

I was just going to ask the same, I went like from 1200 to over 1400 in 25 tactics. It's obviously more fun, but I wonder if we actually learn something that way … don't let it be too easy.

Well it seems that a lot of people were finding it too hard.  Basically with the new "target time" you will either gain A LOT of points if you solve the problem quickly, or if you like to take your time, will probably lose a lot. It depends on your style

Update: I have now gained 256 points in 1 day

Sai

My 7-day change is +457 and I am currently at 2315.

I also notice the shift and posted here.

I also observed that the possibility of repeating a problem is close to 1 out of 200 (of course just an estimate) since I remember some familiar positions and solutions in the last week.

Thomamux2003

Yes, me too! During the seven last days, I have won 392 points!

cats-not-knights

nothing bad with the new system but it bother me that I have to put some effort if I want to keep track of how much I'0ve improved compared to the past.

Thomamux2003

Yes, but with this new system, Chess.com outperforms us in tactical training! As @cats-not-knights has said, it's very embarrassing to have a ranking that does not match his really because you can't watch his progress year-round or since the beginning, We do tactical exercises.

yup gained 200 points in two days only getting 10 tactics I'm not a premium member I've been trying to get back to 1800 on tt for awhile. now it's just gifted to me. bittersweet I wanted to earn it back not get it handed to me

I see one problem with the system. It encourages fast moving.  Fast moving is not sound, and is a bad habit to learn.

I agree.

Using TT for two years I feel like all my efforts to get close to 1.700 are misvalued.

i was +2300 when tt stil had timepenalties like -5 for the right solution when to slow 20% ,then they got rid of time penalties and i peaked at +2500 ,then they changed something again ,at that time i solved around 58% of the puzzles in the range 2400-2700 elo and lost like 500 rating points and now you get a wider rating range of the puzzles and get ridicilous points for it ,now i wanna se where does it end and compare it to the dark timepenalty middle age

I think that +1 for a right solution — no matter what time it took — was a right and  important step in the right direction.  This is still valid and not the point here.

TT points so far showed me a progress in my chess abilities and I appreciated it.  With the new ratings this is down the toilet.

They must have really overcompensated. I have gone up 150 points this week lol. And I thought I was just improving dramatically lol

I almost believed it myself. I have 2300+ now. Almost because last month I stopped using a mobile app where I got 2600 rating in less than 200 problems.
