What to do when playing slooow people?

How does one make it to play the slow people and the runners?

I always switch to youtube. But then I get caught up in the video and just return to the game and spent 3 seconds pr move because the video is more interesting than the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz person I'm playing against.

Its almost the hardest thing for me in chess. Waiting 3 times 1 minute and not get bored to death :) I can understand it if it was compettive or we were playing for a bottle of vodka or something, but I dont get why anyone that had 2 option to move his checked king can spent that long thinking about it.

Sometimes I tell them what to do to speed them up but people dont seem to look at the chat?

Maybe he felt it was an important move to make . The best thing to to when playing slooow people is to wait until they make a move .

Perhaps you should consider it a lesson as someone who loses more than you win.

Last month I was playing a 30/0 game. At one point I thought for more than 5 minutes. My opponent made some comment about moving.

I moved. He moved almost immediately.

a few moves later he was down a piece and a pawn and no hope of winning.

I think for 20+ minute all the time otb and in 90 30 games, but I always get in time trouble.

I get into time trouble ALL THE TIME. I often win games with just a few minutes on the clock while my opponent has most of their time left.

It seems to me some people feel part of the game is to use as little time as possible as if there is some reward for finishing the game with the most time.

maybe they have their hands to face in frustration; sobbing. :)

Opponent's play is too slow? Show them why you're the one who puts the "hurt" in yoghurt.

Wating seems to be an important skill. Really often I figured out what he's gonna do and prepared a killer move to counter him. But after the waiting time and videowatching i forgot my killer move, i get som happy he FINNALY did something i make some stupid move instead :) You always remember it a splitsecond after moving.

I switched to 3 minute blitz now, more action there!

I was playing in a 40 90 game at a chess club and the other guy would not quit talking. So I told him I had to much time on my clock I am going to 7 11 an get a hot dog. I was on the phone outside the store talking to my girlfriend. I got back only had 12 minute s left on the clock I blitzed the guy mated him in twelve moves under 2 minute s I said I have 10 minute s left on clock can I go get another hot dog. He threw his board up in the air an cursed an left tournament! I never expected that guess I should not have went out to 7 11

I read once this process:

When it is your turn, go through your moving process. Tactics..etc...

When it's your opponent's turn, think about strategy and assess the position.

This really helps fill the time you are waiting AND can REALLY improve your game.

chess is a game of patience...

if you don't have patience, try another game like... bullet chess ;D

Your rating is just above 1200, perhaps you should be taking a little more time with your moves.

It's not ethical to annoy your opponent.

I suggest, for people with little patience, is use a faster time control, for example 5 minutes. I prefer 10 minutes. More than 10 minutes and I get bored.

Or you might use that time to find better moves and improve your overall game.

It's pretty ridiculous to change the game you play because of a bad habit. Much - much better to overcome than to avoid.

Play multiple games at once (if you are that good). I used to do that online with poker.

Looks like an advice I need to take. Thank you.
