The record is probably by some pair we've never heard of, and probably numbers in the tens of thousands if not over 100 thousand.
But FIDE rated games would be different, because even pros only play a few events a year.

Well. The person does not have to be a pro to have more games. I know a 1400 who has played 251 tournaments in 6 years.
