Yeah, but then you'd be kicked for writing your "plan" on one of your palms.

Most idiot thing I ever heard in my life. And how r u going to learn if u always play with weak players?

You need to lighten up 6, my comments are just to lighten the mood...live long and prosper!

I'd like some imput on this !: Describe your "thinking" before each move. I've been advised by at least one opponent to "THINK DEFENSE" FIRST. Do you agree? Why? or Why not? Thanks in advance for your input.

In a way, I know what that opponent was trying to get at, but I would not put it that way. Sometimes, especially with players at your (our) level, this can make us play passively and miss opportunities to possibly open up the game in our favor. I think the best way of putting it is "Always know your opponent's threats."

Totally right, instead of reading all those stupid books on strategy I should've sought out better advice.

ErbayHakan

Make sure, your every move should be make your partner disturbed, uncomfortable, forcing to defend himself

DeepGreene

The move you actually make deserves as much thought as all the moves you decide against. (I tend to reject moves very carefully... and then make one I've hardly thought about at all.)

Did you guys lose 0-2 from belgium this week?

QueenTakesKnightOOPS

Undoubtedly the best advice I got was "Remember to press the clock after moving"

"If you ever find yourself between a rook and a hard place, sac the queen and maybe it does something!"

The Scots are currently concentrating on chess right now. (inevitably other sports suffer..)

When in doubt, Improve your worst piece.

Chess strategy for dummies, I know - but I can't count the times when I've been at a loss as to what I should do, and fallen back on this. Almost always, it turns out to be a good idea, and I don't think it has ever lead me to make a mistake.

I don't study this game, but, if I did, this would be near the top of the list.

Best advice:

Play in diapers, no need to get up.
