I haven't played in years, and I'm getting back in. The taught me the English opening in chess club, and another, but I can't remember which. I was wondering some white openings that I could study to get back into chess.

There's no "best" opening, as it all depends on play style. For a returning player, I recommend you study openings without much theory and let the dynamic of positions come to you, which will help develop your own style. Try the classic Italian, or just e4 e5 as it branches into various other positions - all with similar ideas and easy to understand piece development and middle game plans. An good alternative to look at is the London System, which is incredibly flexible.

"The taught me the English opening in chess club"
++ If you play the Sicilian Defense as black then the English Opening as white makes sense.

"I was wondering some white openings"
++ Defenses for black are more important than openings for white.
White has more room for error than black.
As white you can always play a Defense for black with an extra tempo.

"that I could study"
++ You do not need to study any openings. Just play and learn from your losses.

I recommend the English.

I started a new series on https://www.meidum.com. I suggest Kings Gambit for opening because it helps to understand attack on the f7 square. Tactical and if you follow some of the games that I suggest in the articles at the bottom, you will love this opening. I also included a Chessbase CB reader game board link with all the annotations, so you can go through the game that way.

For getting back into chess? Probably 1. h4. After you’ve shaken off the rust and you’re feeling comfortable again, you can begin transitioning to 1. d2
