Well, if Taurusmale is gonna be the new Sheriff on the site now,  we should give him a 1st-class sendoffhappy.png

so, if we're not disingenuous, we might be safe?

Trolls and other negative types thrive on attention - the less we give it to them, the less they will have to feed on.  The most effective approach is to ignore their posts altogether.  Simply do not respond to them.  Like weeds deprived of water, they will soon dry up and disappear...

Bonsai_Dragon

Trolls attract Billy Goats, those notorious troll fighters.

No, I;m gonna shot myselfangry.png   My anti-virus is acting buggy. That's the only reason I'm on the site this early. cry.png  I don't wanna go to Best Buy, buy another one, uninstall the old one, install the new one, run a scan, run diagnostics, etc.

thegreat_patzer

@Russ;  the problem with your approach is that whatever personal discipline some people may have about not responding to trolling; there are definitely enough people that do give a 'troll' lots of negative attention- to sustain an interest.

to my Mind, what is really insightful about this; and the only Real way to starve trolling is to begin strict moderation.  and the risk is that the forums might go from barely busy to entirely vacant.

since that is Obviously unacceptable to management.  destiny seems fixed and unchangeable. trolls WILL get lots of attention and this place will thrive with drama.  more importantly people that feel offended by trolling will leave and others that like it with become the new regulars.

And we will have yahoo chess 2.0

The most effective solution for dealing with trolls....

Completely ignore those who have nothing positive to contribute.  They are looking to evoke responses in order to continue defecating their negativity.  Without the attention of others to feed on, like weeds deprived of water they will eventually dry up and blow away.
