Hello everyone! I live in Karachi and have never played in an international tournament. I have been playing chess for about 5 years and always wish to have a FIDE profile that can actually tell my progress and motivates me in becoming a good player. Chess is limited in our country & I don't have enough resources to go abroad and invest in game... I don't know if their is any comparison between FIDE ratings & chess.com ratings. ANYONE WHO CAN GUESS WHAT SHOULD BE MY RATING?

You could try Fide Online Arena : the ratings there are close to real FIDE ratings.

The comparison between chess.com's and FIDE's rating is more difficult.

There is a comparison between Chess.com rating and USCF rating, and USCF is +100 from FY|IDE

Rightly said. IQ has nothing to do with chess skills its an already concluded fact.

Hard to believe that those super GMs don't have higher than average IQs..

And what's the point of identifying your IQ with your username? For other users to see how smart you are?

I look at your games and you are at 1800 FIDE, not bad! It is good strength level and above average level.

I don't care about what other thinks. I want it to be unique. A username that is rarely seen.

Thanks Edward. At your profile your USCF is 2100 but your chess.com ratings are lower. I'm sure you are a good player but it has once again confused me. I still don't understand comparison between Fide/ chess.com/ USCF ratings.

@Luft - I've been playing there for almost 1 year. Haven't run into a single cheater yet, and I haven't problems to find opponents. Only the tournaments are a bit difficult to work.

I find interface is okay, but I understand it's subjective. I like the fact that the ratings are pretty close to OTB ratings and that they separate official games from unmonitored games.

Do you only get a rating on FIDE OA for paid memberships?

No, I think you can get the 'unmonitored' rating for free.

But I think it's more interesting to go for the 'official' FIDE ratings, which are much closer from real OTB ratings.

Somewhere, sometime long back, I heard or read that Vishy Anand has an IQ of 97, but I could find any ready references now; so I do not know how far that is true. One does not need to be a genius to play well at chess; chess is one game usually starting from the same position over and over again, where you can use opening preparations and pattern memorizations to terrific advantage. It need not be that your chess skills display your IQ. A person with average IQ is expected to reach a maximum rating of about 2000 in chess.(quoted)

So they use a different algorithm if I pay them some money?
