I was rated as high as USCF 2021 when I was 13, but I then dropped rather dramatically before my 14th birthday...

Why ?....Did you discover girls ?....Smile....

I discovered girls before I discovered chess. I discovered chess this year, aged 15. I had my first girlfriend when I was aged 7.

I got more than 700 Rating points in a Bit more than 2 years. Now I am 15 and my Fide Rating is 2012. Really Hard work...

Fide 2012 is very strong, you can become a teenage IM.

Establish which 13 year olds play chess - might take a while, there are quite a lot of people aged 13. Check out the rating for these players - might also take a while. Decide what to do about all the unrated people - giving them each a provisional rating based on their chess history is the usual approach (take for ever). Now divide the total rating points by the total players. Voila.

In the alternative play a few games of chess; its a fun game and you might well enjoy it.

Rating points are quite useful in finding opponents at around the right sort of level to give you an enjoyable game. As a prop to youthful ego they leave a certain amount to be desired.

The ideal rating for a 13 year old is infinity.

The average rating is unrated.

Very impressive indeed considering you've been a member of chess.com for 3 and a half months!

^Although your rating is still very impressive for that time played. Smile

Your rating won't settle down until you have played a couple of dozen games (rather than two).

Good luck.

I think a 13year-old should be rated 1500 in FIDE because I am 9 and my FIDE rating is 1124

The real answer is about 800-1000 on Chess.com. A bit higher in USCF.

I'm a 10 year old and my rating is higher then that. (for online chess)

Don't you kids have anything better to do than sitting around playing a stale old board game?

Shouldn't you be out throwing rocks through windows, stealing candy and going for joyrides or something?

Sheesh...kids these days.

They don't really play or study as much as many people think, especially the ones with coaches, and their ratings end up around what 1600 - 1900? And these kids, even the younger ones, are tough to play against. If I win against them, I feel lucky. Being under pressure against them isn't fun either.

I'm 14 years old and don't have a USCF rating, but I can beat most of the 1400s in my chess club at G/90.

I was just thinking about the ideal rating for a 13 year old

International Master is the ideal (GM is ideal of course, but it hasn't done yet so count it even less than IM).

One that lives in a chess country or one that is just discovering girls?

LOL... for a chess country as I said, IM is ideal. For girls, I'd say <550 tops: You have to spend all your time meditating on how to begin your, shall I say, "dating career," (I hope at thirteen he isn't using other terms), and working out to get the body for those meditations to be implemented. So you have no time for chess.
