So many masterpieces at your disposition! Is like having a millionaire dad.
What would be the rating of a top chess player in the late 1800s today

He has gone up 280 points in 9 years ( 2006-2015 ) using his method .
It took me 11 years to go from 1200s to 2200 ( 1973-1984 ) using the method he trashes . Our databases back then were the informants and our computers/engines our own brains , oh and all those master games I wasted my time on !
were they not allowed change their names back in those days ?
he could have been so well remembered if he called himself Frankenstein.
bit before the time of the rock stars who started all this rock username stuff though I guess.

Actually I have employed my new method for 9 months now with outstanding results. I have become more familiar with my pet openings. In your case, experience does not result in higher rating. You're going to stay at master for the rest of your life if all you are doing is going over Rubinstein's games. My method is a scientific approach. The opening phase is a scientific pursuit. Middle game plans and tactics also require a computer program. The only tactics and plans that matter are the ones that can result from your specific openings. And since I do not play like anyone else, the only games worthy of analysis are my own. Just watch how my rating will continue to climb, I'm still young, and I've got plenty of time to improve. Watch me rise while you stagnate at master.

The computer is the greatest tactical player. I don't need a grandmaster to teach me how to play chess, all I need is my Fritz 11. She shows me how it's done. I seriously doubt any chess player nowadays does not use computers.

Yep, everybody nowadays use computers despite the fact having a GM coach in every house is much more affordable. But since is also totally useless...

studying styles different from yours is a way to improve.
I agree.
Magikstone's method sounds to me like a contemporary rock musician who only studies and listens to modern rock. Imho, while this might not be a bad method to improve in writing/playing rock songs, i think you become a greater musician by studying/listening to different styles of music (as varied as possible), and music from all eras.
Optimissed, you really wimped out with "everyone accepts the evolution theory".
You mean everyone who learns to live like a baby bird, waiting for the momma bird.
what a bunch of plonkers!

You are wrong, but do as you wish. Middle game plans, you learn them from books/videos/master games, whatever you use you need a strong master to learn from. To calculate variations you need to have a good calculation system and visualization abilities. A computer will NEVER teach those to you. Or does your computer teach how to play IQP positions? Positions with open/closed etc. center? Also, a computer can show your tactical blunders, but it will never teach you how to calculate.
And you are wrong if you think that the only plans and tactics that matter are the ones coming from your openings. In theory it would be enough, the problem is YOU CANNOT DECIDE WHAT OPENING YOU WILL PLAY!
A chess game is played by 2 players, what happens on the board depends on both players, including what opening is played in a certain game.
how about disclosing your rating progress over the last 5 years!
