what would you play in this position?
I'm no expert and I haven't analysed the position, but the bishop sacrifice f7 looks tempting, followed by knight takes e5 with tempo. Then queen out to h5 looks very dangerous, forcing the king to move (otherwise you get the black rook. Otherwise you could just develop normally and let the knight capture the bishop because you have no hope of saving it.
I would play 0-0 and expect d6 as a response and if d6 then d4
I would not worry at all about my bishop being taken as it would give White a solid pawn situation on the queenside and open the "a" file for white with the White rook indirectly looking as the a6 pawn.
I would not give up my bishop by playing Bxf2+ as I do not see a follow up worth the sacrificed material.
Ponz that's what I analysed and why I like 6.0-0 best. If you don't think you have anything better then castle. 6.Bxf7+ should be analysed, but if you find a refutation just castle.
Wait, 6.Bxf7+,Kxf7 7.Nxe5+,Ke8 8.Qh5+,g6 9.Nxg6 looks dangerous, 8.Qh5+,Ke7 now what? Oh 9.Qf7+,Kd6 10.d4 and it's hard to see past this point.
I was thinking this must be a known variation so theory is already out and so discounted 6. Bxf7+ I do not think Black can allow Qh5+ so we would have something like this:
Yeah hard to see everything in just my head but I think even after 7...Ke7! it can go either way. Maybe it's an unneccessary sac, but isn't losing by any means as the tempo, center, development, and unsafe black king are about equal I think. 8.d4,Nf6 9.Nc3 provoking a trap 9...b4? (seemingly sensible moves can be very weak) 10.Nd5+,Nxd5 11.exd5,Qe8 (otherwise Bg5+, this threat means that black was obligated to spend a tempo preventing it, though the queen could be useful on the diagonal so I won't say passive defense) 12.Qf3,Kd8 13.Bg5,Be7 14.Nf7+ is excellent for white.
The lesson of the above line is never hand your opponent free activity if the king is exposed and the other side's pieces have easy access to the king.
9...Bb7 is more sensible and develops 10.0-0,d6 11.Nd3 and white needed to move back. The e4 pawn is poison because the knight is needed to prevent the skewer.
