are super gms more evil?
What's the difference between a Super GM and a GM?

Wow! That first page was hilarious. I thought they would be an intelligent conversation regarding what aspects of the game a SGM excels over a GM at with mixed opinions. Instead I read hysterical comments including way too vague answers and trollism. Has it changed since? Well I am going say nothing also.

Oh I see everyone is just screwing around now lol
When RNA starts a thread with this title, people (myself included) feel like they have a licence...

a) Super GMs wear their underpants outside of their pants.
When I was young I had a chess- talent much stronger than I understood myself. In addition to chess I was competing in the woods running with map and compass. A popular woods-running outfit in these days were long blue super-underwear with short underpants outside. I made my best chesstournament of my life those days, winning the Åsnes Sjakklubb clubchampionship wit 11 out of 13 points. That was super :)

It is not a stupid question at all. People have opinions...

No one so far as I read voiced a good opinion but these are not the type of opinions the OP was looking for if you did not notice. So far as the question is concerned on opinions, it was not a stupid question.

"Chess.com members stupidity has no limits". (And I'm not a member of Chess.com I am the creator of it)

Originally a Super GM was a GM who'd achieved a 2600+ rating, but as more GMs achieved that rating the roundabout figure increased to around 2700.

Don't know, we have a few Silmans and the like, calling for Fischer, and all the while millions of people using an engine monkeys. Don't know, you tell me.

Super GM's know 5,000,000 patterns
GM's know 20,000 patterns
Interesting post. Is there a source for these numbers?

lol no way. That is a gross exaggeration. Count the zeros again!

What?!? One number is 250 times bigger than the other! He was clearly joking, there is no source.

Damn it COP, you beat me to it!
Of course I did. You think like a snail and type like a granny!

To see the differences in play its fine to go to the open tournaments and read some games.
I am more interested in the differences between my clubmates and the superGMs. Alexei Shirov is quite super at 2674, and it was an interesting game he had against 15 year old FM Johannes Haug. Johannes pushed hard with black but couldnt get anything, Shirov squeesed in the endgame, and after 54 moves he got decisive advantage. Shirov has brilliant endgametechnique. It looked equal (in my very amateurish eyes) after 25moves, but from there Shirov slowly buildt an advantage, starting with entering the 7th rank with his rook.
Maybe Johannes somewhat underestimated Shirov and overextended himself , and gave Shirov something to bite on a lot earlier then move 25? It will be interesting if any of you can analyze something out of the game.
I wonder if Johannes actually uses Shirov as a coach? Some of the Russianspeaking kids in Nordstrand are skyping with a ca 2650 GM from a previous Sovjetcountry. If its Shirov he must have been very good prepared.
Their game is at this site:

You really can't believe it? It's just a miracle of epic proportions that such a display of ignorance could happen?
Just to clear exactly where I'm coming from here, it's got little to do with not knowing that the specific word "pants" has a different meaning here. This is what happened in my eyes:
There were three nearly back to back posts that said:
a) Super GMs wear their underpants outside of their pants.
b) I thought pants/underwear were the same thing.
c) They are where I'm from (UK), but person a obviously learned American English.
Now, If post c wasn't read by TF, because he was replying to a post without having read the 5 very short posts following it then he's just something else... Who does that? Nobody else but him is capable of answering that question? **** ****
Let's think about what must have gone through his head. Person b is questioning the English language. TF's then so sure that person b could only possibly have learned the version of the English language that he knows, despite the crazily obvious signs that that's not true (even without seeing post c which tells him that) that he goes on to make a long, confident, rude post correcting person b.
That's all if he didn't even see my post (c)... Imagine if he did, which he absolutely must have done... I'm literally failing to comprehend what could have gone through his tiny skull, and quite frankly I couldn't insult him enough.
