What's the utility of the Players League?
Is there really some hidden benefit of being a "legend" in the Players League?
No, just 8 stylish PNG images in Awards section + badge on the profile page
There once was the Legends club that players got into automatically after they advanced to the Legend league but it was closed ~1 year ago

Yeah, I actually tried looking for the Legends club at first but couldn’t find anything, so I wasn’t even sure if it really did exist or I had just imagined it
If it was closed about a year ago, that makes sense. Maybe they could bring a club back again though. I vaguely remember them handing out a few memberships to some players from a daily tournament or something like that, but I’m not completely sure....
Hey everyone,
I’ve been wondering about the purpose of the Players League on chess.com.. I don't really understand why it exists. I get what it does; you earn trophies based on wins in blitz, rapid, bullet, etc., and then players are ranked on a leaderboard. If you collect enough trophies, you move up to a higher division.
That part is actually pretty fun in the beginning. When you're in the lower leagues, competing with others and trying to climb up the ranks gives you something extra to aim for. But once you reach the Legend League, the whole thing starts to feel kind of pointless. Sure, the reader could argue that it promotes healthy competition and motivates people to play more chess on the site. But chess.com just introduced the streak feature, which already does something similar in terms of encouraging activity.
I have been in the Legend League since forever and there doesn't seem to be any benefits of being there. At least the so called "legends" should be given some kind of perks for earning the most trophies but that is not the case.

Personally, I think Chess.com could make the Player League much more meaningful by giving small rewards.... Like maybe a free membership for the weekly winner, ad removal, an extra game review or anything else that improves the daily experience.. Otherwise, they should just discard it. Its totally pointless and not needed.
