what's the value of a king?
#1
A pawn can move and capture towards 1 or 2 squares.
A knight can move and capture towards 2 to 8 squares.
A bishop can move and capture towards 7 to 13 squares.
A rook can move and capture towards 14 squares.
A queen can move and capture towards 21 to 27 squares.
A king can move and capture towards 3 to 8 squares.
Thus the value of a king would be about 3 if it were not infinite.

In a game of points, it's worth 3 points, like the knight, but bishops are also worth 5 in games of points. So, if I had to assign a value to the king, it would be 3 points, but it could be any value. 100 points would make it less valuable than every other piece combined if all pawns promoted to queens, though.

its worth 69420
I wonder which would be more valuable: That king or an entire 14x14 board of amazons, one royal, with an x6 opposite multiplier, and +40 points for mate.

The king can't have a prize because it can't be captured.
Technically check mate captures the king, the king has nowhere to go and is attacked by a piece

And it should be based off nobility.
If your a leader of a rebel group and your being attacked surely if you get captured the other people will too

It is worth up to 4.25 points as an attacking piece in the endgame: stronger than a knight or a bishop and almost as good as a rook. Earlier on in the game it is weak because it is in danger of getting harassed or checkmated so it is almost useless as an attacking piece.
But in terms of how much you don't want to lose it, or how much you should be prepared to sacrifice in order to checkmate the other king, it is invaluable.
Like if a pawn is 1 and knights and bishops are about 3 and rooks are 5 and the queen is 9 what value does the king have?
Not as in his importance to the game then it would be infinite because no king means no game I just mean the value of his movement if it wasn't a king.
Basically a pawn that can't promote and can move to all adjacent squares.
