Maybe if they made the game more exciting and attractive... and had more tv exposure... but Chess can never compete with team sport like soccer and nfl ect.

Did you know coverage of the Carlsen-Caruana match last winter, was at the time the #1 rated program on Twitch?

Chess might not be cut out for TV, no. But it is custom-made for the internet.

We are living today in the Golden Age of chess media. The advent of the internet, has blown this sport wide open.

I am very excited to see where it will lead.

your all so lucky, you try getting many Australians into chess, its impossible, and trying to get more than a footnote in the media is a task not to be achieved for a long time.

But the potential is there... Late Night Chess... two GMs playing blitz or rapid, with commentary, designer clothes, funky music... about an hour or so?

Poker got something similar... and was quite successful.
