just play for fun but i do want to improve
What's your chess goal? 🎉

1500.
It was one step forward and two steps back; twice in the last 3 months.
I plan on dialing things back now that the summer is here. I cannot see myself grinding the summer away and I don’t play well when I am forced to grind anyways. Plus it’s more important to make room for friends, dogs, golf and guitars.
I plan on taking my time and give myself end of 2022 to hit 1500.
Online is a different animal for some reason vs OTB, for me at least.

2000 rapid by this year, i feel it . kneel before me all mediocre andys , look up and witness greatness

no lol

At least 2000 rapid by summers end, 2200 by years end
I was going to say 2000, but now I want to 1-up you. 2100 by the end of summer, 2300 by the end of the year.

Doubt

Even if it may seem strange, one thing I like to do in chess is to watch tournaments of the Chessmaster program (opposing strong AI personalities of the program) in time 5 minutes+1 second by move (with modifications of the opening book to force AI's players to always play the same openning) .
(A game of chess makes me more interested in watching than a game of soccer or video game like for exemple SC2 because I also practice but it doesn't give the impression of being inaccessible, example 1) f4-e5 the idea of playing e5 can be hard to find but once you 've seen is technically easy to do while at soccer you need physical capacity, maybe to be tall enough etc. to reproduce and SC2 skills to click quickly at the right time etc. to reproduce)
Then comes ranked games against AI opponents who encourages us to progress but not in an artificial way.
Then because after a while is not possible to progress (not in artificial way like playing an anti-bot technique seeking to exploit a flaw in an AI personality) and because it's also more fun against humans, to play against humans. (I also watch MIs or GMIs commenting their blitz on chess24 youtube)
Simplified I don't really have a goal except to have fun and watch games but as oppents AI encourages progression due to its special way of playing that AI opponents can have (example AI. Mateo tends to make a fake sacrifice or even gives one Bishop or one Knight against one pawn or two pawns and then it's not easy to win because AI. Mateo is good at tactics, finds strong moves, can be good in defense and is able to play fast) I study or I learn in my own way.
Or do you just play for fun, with no real desire to improve? 🏅
