I don't recognise anyone in the quotes who are these random people lmao
What's your excuse not achieving 1000 rating?
"If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse".
"If you want something you have never had, you must be willing to do something you have never done" - Thomas Jefferson.
(Sorry just copypasted it from both posts)
@ESP-918 : I am kind of split about my opinion concerning your original post. Firstly, we can eliminate a whole bunch of people which you didn't talk about (though I think it's the majority of people <1000), these people being the ones that do not "want", and for whom rating is not an objective. And this is totally understandable : chess is a game after all!
Then, the first part of your post "All you got to do just play! No need to study, read books, do openings, tactics etc .... Just playing simple as that." is not always true. Everyone has different abilities in different domains. Looking at different programs multiple times won't help you to be able to code. Playing gives you experience, but studying gives you experience before experience (games). If it's not necessary, it just makes things easier and faster.
And this is where I partly agree with you. 1000 is accessible to anyone, no kidding. It might not be easy for everyone but it is possible. But you have to invest yourself in it, and if you don't have time, work better! I have someone in my class who always get >17/20 at school though he is not really working a lot. He just works more efficiently than everyone. Playing 20 minutes a day for 1/2 month is all it takes to get to 1000 if you're concentrated during your games and when you analyse them. Maybe some do not, but I think most of the people have 20 minutes a day they can spend, right ?
And just to finish, if your objective was truly to give motivation to people to get to 1000, I think it is not the best way to do it. I can understand some would be hurt by these words because they struggle already and what you said could, at the contrary demotivates them because they think "1000 is easy why can't I get it I'm not made for chess I'm quitting". Is or what you want ?(honest question)
I am not 1000 yet because I want to go through all of the lessons and a few courses thoroughly before I play a single rated game ![]()
When I did chesspersonality.com, I got Machine and the slider from "Playful" to "Studious" was at 100% studious, so I guess it's right ![]()
I think games will help apply what you're learning
It's like when you have an exam you do mocks as practice
That's why I said "rated" game! I play bots, use the analysis tool, and play with my friend in unrated games to try out what I've learned and experiment ![]()
1/3 of everyone in the 400-600 ELO range are bot accounts or cheaters. Either that or everyone has suddenly become grandmasters at chess. But seriously the cheating problem in the low ELO range is getting out of hand.
I've looked at games in that range and I can say that you are overestimating
I just resign too much due to classes
TBH its my fault for playing during passing time
