What's your highest record against someone you've played?

It can be overall record (e.g. 17W 2L 5D) or maybe a result in a small match (e.g. 8 blitz games and you won 6.5-1.5) or something like that.

There was this young man who won the Championship of the Kankakee Illinois Chess Club. He won with a perfect record as he beat everybody.

He thought he was pretty good but learned I was good also and wanted to play me some formal, timed, games.  So we set up a 10 game match.

Every Saturday he would come to my home [I would provide refreshments and a nice environment]

We used my old chess clock.  40 moves in the first 2 hours.

He came every Saturday for ten different games. I won all ten games.

Highest record against me. My dad taught me the moves and then played against me.  He was probably about an average class D   player.

He beat me 100 games in a row before I even drew a game.

There was a guy on here, (now banned for cheating). He was a strong player, I think he cheated in self defense, not that I condone that.

I think I had 30 something losses and 1 draw against him, I'm pretty sure he never needed to cheat against me.

Can anyone top Ponz's Dad?  He beat Ponz who is a near Master in chess 100 games in a row!  He has to be the strongest D level player ever.

I was at the lower boards of my team. We decided to play a double rounded simultaneous speed chess tournament with 10 minutes for every round. That means 5 minutes for each player, also for the person that is playing at the boards simultaneously. There were three boards. Two of the other players were playing top boards in the team, the other one the guy next to me in the team.

I won the tournament with a score of 5.5 out of 6.

Hmm, my record against my brother, here on chess.com in all, bullets, blitzs, standards if any and a lot of online games, is interesting:

Msc157, how do you think you'd do against Ponz's Dad?

Mr_Tarkanian  are you trolling?

No, I'm just teasing.  :)

10-0 against one player on here. I'm sure if he wasn't always playing 200+ CC games at once he'd have done better since he was the higher rated player on about half of those.

Most of these games were bullet, and a large number were from three hour sessions of one minute games several years ago. We have an even score in correspondence, and I think I am +1 in OTB, but even in rated USCF games. His coaching profile has his quickest OTB win against me, and my coaching profile has our most recent OTB game (I won). The past year, he has been winning the majority of online blitz games.

Pretty nice Ziryab! I hope you won't have +2 against me. Wink

Some are giving their best record against an individual and some are giving their best record such as games played against a group of people.

When I was age 15-16 I won more than 4,000 games in a row without loss or draw.

[of course a story behind this one]

I'll do my best, but honesty assures me that my current run of wins cannot last forever. Maybe you'll be the one who brings my back down to earth.

I also like to play against my dog. Everyone thinks my dog is smart, but my record against him over 120 games is 60 wins, 46 losses and 24 draws, so I don't think he's that smart.

coneheadzombie  to answer your question When I was age 15 I was hired by the city of Decatur Illinois for a summer job of going to the many school playgrounds around the city and to teach chess to the kids. This was the year 1956 and I was paid the same as the teachers at the playgrounds. I remember standing in a large room with newly hired teachers all around me and I was annouced the "chess instructor" and would be paid the same as the teachers!

I had a motorscooter and would drive from one playground to another.

Back then it was legal for a 15 year old to ride a motor scooter but not a car.

At each playground I was greeted with 10-to14 kids all lined up with their chess boards and pieces set up.  They wanted me to do a simultaneous against all of them.  When, one lost he would play another game or sometimes another kid would take his place. [I would also give the tips of play as the simul proceeded]

The ages of the kids were from as young as 7 to maybe age 13.  Each day I would play maybe 50-60 games.

The first year there was a blind kid who was the best player.  I built a chess board with the sides of the squares raised.  One time I hung my queen to his knight fork and resigned.  This was about the middle of the first year. It was the only game I lost [or drew]

The 2nd year with the same employment--I won all my games. 4000 in a row is a very conservative estimate.  I know the players were weak but I do not know a master who could play so many continuous simuls without getting tired and dropping a game or two?

To be employed that way and to drive from one area of Decatur to another with my motorscooter [which I had paid for by cutting grass] was a real thrill for a 15 and then 16 year old.

My protege & close friend have been sparring for well over 4 yrs. 5 blitz, classic etc. I've always thought we'd been close in number of wins, losses or draws.(as most games were purely for experimentation and the like, and he had progressed from 1500 to 1875 in the meantime).

Then one day, he showed me our stats during the 4yrs. The Openings used, how many games we'd played in an year etc.

I was surprised i was 1700-800 vs him!

Trippy.
