when and where to castle?

can you give me some advice when and where to castle,,? i like to castle in queen side if my opponent castle to king side,(vice versa.)...so i will attack his king with my pawns on my kingside is that a good move?? tnx in advance!!! :-)

I hate to give an obvious answer, but it all depends on the particular position. Chess would be boring if there were easy general rules about the best way to castle.
