In 1492. Columbus brought it back to Europe from the West Indies. It was originally a game played by the royal concubines.

Chess was just invented in 1969 by the CIA as a test for their agents.

It made its way to Europe in early 2002 when MI6 began experimenting with it as a mind-control tool.

The thing we play on this site. I guess it has protoversions also.

I_Am_Second

Are you talking about the game of chess or the acronym c.h.e.s.s

batgirl

Do you consider proto-chess as chess?  If so, the chess, shatranj to be exact, arrived in Europe centuries before the Battle of Hastings.

822.

I introduced it in Cordoba, where I had moved after I became unwelcome in the royal court in Baghdad due to my proficiency in music.

Rasberry_Yoghurt, I notice you're from Denmark.  An article I just published may (or may not) interest you. It's all about the birth of the Danish Gambit.

That's a ball in my puppy's mouth. I should post the video of her taunting her brother with it.

batgirl

Was the ball around in 822?

Not that ball. It's a modern dryer ball that is past its prime. But, dogs had balls.

You'd think these guys had better things to do then spend their time on a game. Laughing
