when to start entering local tournaments

full disclosure my elo is trash rn and i definitely don’t want to enter until im above 300 maybe even 400 in rapid. the time constraint is what gets me; i make fast moves and blunder when otherwise id take the time to analyze…but how do you /know/ when you have a fair chance at winning in local tournaments?

bonus question do most tournaments offer cash prizes? not trying to become a grandmaster but idk how realistic it is for me to want to improve for some side cash especially because i’ve only been playing for about 3 months consistently^-^
