There are a few here. But often hard to tell, because of the many fake females (males posing as females) as well.

Hi Joyce, you may want to consider joining an all-womens group on the site as there are quite a few to choose from. You'll find there are plenty of female players here, although guys pretending to be girls can be a bit of a problem sometimes, they are usually easy to spot once you start talking to them.
If you're looking for a group to join there are a couple of good ones I could recommend. Hope this helps.

Yes it's true more men tend to be attracted to the game than women for whatever reasons, I tend to think it's probably just a cultural thing and by no means is it an indication of our ability to play chess. Though there aren't really that many people that I know personally who even know how the pieces move, male or female.

I've never encountered a female chess player other than myself.
