Where Can I Find Games of Amateurs?

The internet has a wealth of games by Grandmasters and ither strong players. I would like to see games a little nearer to my level. I wonder what a USCF 1400/1600/1800 player plays like in a concrete form, not just general numbers like an amount of mistakes in a game. I want to compared these games to mine. Anybody know where someone could find games of players rated at this level?

You could always check the "finished games" list from the profiles of random posters who meet your rating bracket.

Yeah, I think it's more accurate to say the internet has a wealth of games by amateurs and other weak players Laughing

Well, while there are plenty of games, none of the information may be accurate. Ratings may not be true, players may not be playing at full level, etc. What I am looking for is published OTB games, if such things exist for amateurs, on the internet.

Hmm, some states have their bulletins / newsletters / that sort of thing online... you have to pay for it though.  Some are mailed to you.  That would give you games from U2000 players (for example) in tournament settings.

Now and then you'll see bad blunders though, and you may even think "I don't even miss that in blitz games!" (and you'd be right) but fatigue of long games and over analyzing things can sometimes lead to blindness of something simple in the position.

I know some databases with lots of games will include these kinds of games.  Off the top of my head I'm not sure where to get them though.  Chesstempo.com somehow has most of my tournament rated games (I can just google my name and they come up).  I don't know if there's a way to search that database (it says it's in beta).

The 365chess online database includes games by amateurs.
