Geometry, for example, came from Euclid, who lived in the Greek city of Alexandria, Egypt.
India though early game variants have been found in the Mseopotamia, Egypt, and China. India clearly has the earliest recognizable chess games though the Europeans added Castling, two square pawn moves, and the powerfull queen moves.
