i would study the endgame first because it will improve your over all playing then study the strategy. masters can be weaker in the opening and middle game but no masters are weak in the end game =]
Which book to read first
Interesting! I was thinking that most people would encourage tactics first. I actually find the endgame boring but I think that it is because I don't really understand it.
most people say tactics is like 99% of chess but theres a lot more too it =] tactics are really important though yep :D but then theres positional chess and pawn structure study will improve you a lot from the pawns you get outposts open files good and bad bishops etc strategy is for making the plans tactics is what you do when theres an oppertunity to use it and the endgame is what every master is best in :D
the difference between a master and the beginner is the beginner looks for the best move in a position but the master looks for the best plan :D so id say study endgame then tactics and strategy =] on some positions on the end game you can have a pawn and a king and beat a queen =] but lots of people find the end game boring but you will appreciate it more the stronger you get =]
One advantage that I can think of is that you'd realise when it is good to simplify the position into an endgame, when it is good to do that and when it isn't good to do that.
This is the book I have and thankfully I purchased it when it was still in print, because it is quite expensive now.

The 5th and 6th game of the 2013 Anand-Carlsen would show that the endgame should be at the top of your list.
Yep, I watched both of them and in both cases, the players came into the endgame maybe one with a small advantage, but in both games it was the endgame which decided who won and who lost.
What chess problems website would you recommend for endgames?

Tons of masters are weak at the endgame. I find anyone below Fide Master are weak in endgames

Any you read it will help you for sure.
PS: You won´t find not IM or GM "weak" in endgames, no way.
Does JAnowksy belong in that region?

¿cómo estás? :)
Thanks! Do you know any website with free chess problems that I can do? This seems the quickest way to improve, by studying lots of positions, no?
You should study the endgame's book, but you have simultaneously do some tactics from the other book. But your basic study is going to focus on the endgame, and the supplement will be the tactics. Hope you understand what I mean

I have one strategy book, Modern Chess Strategy (abridged) - Pachman, one endgame book, Essential Chess Endings - Howell, and Chess Tactics from Scratch - Weteschnik. In order to improve my game, which one would you recommend I read first and why, or should I read all of them simultaneously? Or should I just play more games at slower time controls maybe?
