As a moderatly chess interested Norwegian its no suprise that I follow the escapades of our own Magnus Carlsen. Still I could probably analyze his games untill death without becoming a better player myself.
I have no idea how many moves he can calculate in advance, (seperate question. Does anybody know how may moves a top rated player can "see" into the future?) but for me the number seams to be around three, after that I have no idea what is going to happen. Am I winning or losing, if the mate is more then three moves away (and I am counting 3 as white, black, white) I have no idea its coming.
So my question, as a around 1000 chess.com rated player what should I do to improve my ability to "see" the moves ahead?
tactics training does not seem to help, since they basicly tell you to look for a mate in x number of moves, and once you know its there you always find it. I want to be able to see it in a actual game.
Fun fact in the end. If you ever find yourself playing me Im going to switch pices until I can mate you with the only two or three pices left on the board :P
