It's a matter of preference. I prefer rapid because I get more time to think about my moves. You'll still run out of time if you play slowly, but the extra time increments will help with that. And it's still good for ragequit-stallers, because you can just wait a few minutes and hit that report button.

Blitz chess encourages players to think faster, but rapid is even better because you have more time to think about your own moves, and those of your opponent.
